Many people would not consider living anywhere in Ohio to be a stroke of luck. Midwestern-bashing aside, those living in or around Columbus are privy- weekly!- to one of the most beautifully substantial roots bands in recent years.
Hailing from Cleveland, OH, the members of The Floorwalkers came together to, as they put it, “transcend…to penetrate the system and start a revolution of love and human fellowship through music, art, and culture”. Their deeply soulful yet readily commercial melodies combine with lyrics devoted to love. In fact, one entire CD, The Floorwalkers EP, is devoted entirely to finding the meaning of and joy in love.
What makes this particular band so revolutionary is that the lyrics actually extol love without any bitterness, the voice of the lead singer is earnest enough to carry the message and the instrumental workings of the band do not overpower any part of the performance as a means of solo self-promotion. So many local bands that claim they are all about the love make certain to add that love equals female panty-dropping and peace is the solice they find in the bottom of a cold keg.
Could it be? A band claiming to be about peace, hope, love, and harmony that actually is a champion of these things outside of the proverbial bedroom or bar floor? !
Really, only they know for certain. However, all of those people not living in or around Columbus that support this “local” band do so because they want to believe that when something comes together and is just that beautiful, it comes from a better place.
